Maintenance Sales Representative

The HVAC Maintenance Sales Representative (MSR) role is often the first introduction a customer may have with IPS. In this role, an individual will play a crucial role in identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities, ensuring customer satisfaction, and contributing to the overall success of our company. Your responsibilities will include prospecting potential clients, evaluating creditworthiness, and addressing customer concerns while promoting our services. Drawing on an extensive knowledge of HVAC maintenance services, this position will leverage various resources and technologies to gather accurate data, calculate costs, and meet or exceed assigned sales objectives.

Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 with commission bonus opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Contact prospects and target accounts through different communication methods to identify a preliminary determination of customers’ needs for company services while evaluating creditworthiness.
  • Apply multiple prospecting methods utilizing directories, association memberships, libraries, networking, technology, existing customers, and individual resources with the support of the company.
  • Address customers’ initial concerns and requests with tact seeking a resolution or escalating to the appropriate service member.
  • Identify key accounts that are owner-occupied buildings or high-service demanding building opportunities providing long-term business development.
  • Report to key company personnel on the status of sales and ongoing customer activities.
  • Research and understand the company’s history, capabilities, and maintenance program to accurately sell services to prospective customers.
  • Utilize resources such as blueprints, equipment lists, job site inspections, photography, new technology, and technicians to perform thorough recording of company products based on make, model, type, serial number, size, location, quantity, etc.
  • Use company pricing and estimating procedures, programs, and forms to accurately calculate proposed customer costs.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales objectives and quotas ensuring business development success for the company. This includes delivering a project margin that meets the company’s annual goals and objectives.
  • Conduct site visits to gather client information and make observations to determine the scope of work or potential opportunities.
  • Communicate with the service office and technicians to ensure jobs are being opened, closed, or updated to reflect new costs with change orders.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or post-secondary certificate, or HVAC trade (Pipefitting) experience.
  • 5-7 years minimum experience in sales within HVAC maintenance service, construction industry experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and standard CRM software.
  • Ability to make independent decisions on customer evaluation and targeting future projects.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with good problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiation and active listening skills to address issues, concerns, or opportunities.
  • Must be able to protect sensitive and confidential data.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk through potential project sites with unexpected hazards – surfaces that are unlevel, icy, or muddy. Ability to climb stairs or ladders at varying heights.
