688 MW Natural Gas Peaking Facility
Troy Energy - Luckey, Ohio
The Troy Energy Power Plant is a 688 MW natural gas-fired, single-cycle peaking facility that supplies power to utility companies during periods of peak demand. Industrial Power Systems (IPS) served as General Contractor for the plant’s new construction. The work included installing four GE Frame 7 turbine generators rated at 172 MW each. IPS delivered the $36 million project in 12 months under a design-bid-build contract.
Full-Scope Power Plant Construction
IPS managed and executed the project from foundations to final calibration, self-performing the civil, mechanical, and electrical work a power generation facility requires:
- Civil and foundations: concrete foundations and underground piping and electrical systems
- Centerline equipment: installation of all centerline equipment, including centerline piping, electrical, and fire suppression
- Balance of plant (BOP): BOP piping and BOP electrical
- Air and exhaust: inlet and exhaust duct systems
- Electrical and controls: high-voltage duct, instrumentation, and calibration
- Fire protection: plant-wide fire protection systems
- Support facilities: construction of the operations and maintenance building
