Conveyor System Electrical Installation
Northwest Ohio Distribution Facility
A Northwest Ohio distribution facility needed a new conveyor automation system to unload incoming packages of every size and distribute them to staging areas throughout the building. A conveyor line only works when every motor, sensor, and control device along it has power and a reliable connection back to the system. That is the work IPS was brought in to deliver.
IPS was contracted to install the cabling pathway for the full 800-foot length of the conveyor system, carrying 480-volt power, 120-volt power, and communication cabling from end to end. The pathway had to follow the conveyor’s entire route so that each device along the line could be fed and networked as the system came together.
To support the installation, the IPS fabrication shop produced the mounting brackets for all of the conveyor system’s devices. Because fabrication came from IPS’s own shop on the Rossford campus, the electrical team didn’t have to wait on an outside supplier for the hardware it needed to mount and connect the system. The result is a fully cabled conveyor line ready to move packages from unloading to staging across the facility.
