Smoke, Horsepower, and Friendly Competition: The IPS Pull Truck Is Hitting the Circuit This Summer

IPS mechanic Matt Hinkle pilots the company pull truck across Northwest Ohio and
Southeast Michigan — bringing diesel horsepower and IPS pride to fairgrounds all season long.

At IPS, we build things. Industrial facilities, mechanical systems, custom fabrications, power infrastructure — if it takes skilled hands and serious expertise, chances are IPS has a team for it. But this summer, one member of our crew is putting those same instincts to work in a very different arena: the tractor pull circuit.

The IPS Pull Truck — driven by our own Matt Hinkle, an IPS mechanic by day and a workstock diesel competitor by weekend — is officially on tour. After taking third place in the Workstock Diesel category at the Fulton County Tractor Pull earlier this summer, the truck and its driver have a full schedule ahead, and we want you to come out and cheer them on.

Meet the Driver: Matt Hinkle

Matt Hinkle isn’t just an IPS mechanic — he’s the kind of guy who understands engines at a level most people only read about. When he’s not keeping IPS’s equipment running at peak performance, he’s behind the wheel of a workstock diesel pull truck, competing against some of the toughest rigs in Northwest Ohio.

Tractor pulling — particularly the Workstock Diesel category — is a sport that rewards the same qualities IPS values on every jobsite: precision, preparation, and the ability to perform under pressure. In Workstock Diesel competition, trucks run in their factory configuration with limited modifications, meaning the driver’s skill and the machine’s reliability are everything. Matt brings both.

His third-place podium finish at the Fulton County Tractor Pull was just the beginning. The rest of the season is stacked — and IPS is proud to put its name on the door.

Why Does IPS Sponsor a Pull Truck?
Fair question — and the answer says a lot about who IPS is as a company.
IPS was founded in 1985 by a pipefitter who understood the value of hard work, community, and showing up. Over 40 years later, those values still define everything we do — from the jobsite to the fairground. Sponsoring the pull truck isn’t just a marketing decision; it’s a reflection of the people who make IPS what it is.
Tractor pulls are a staple of county fair culture across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan — exactly the communities IPS has been building in for decades. Being present at these events, cheering on our own team member, and connecting with neighbors and clients in a setting outside the jobsite is exactly what community investment looks like in practice.
Plus — and we’ll be honest here — watching a diesel truck haul a weighted sled down a dirt track while the crowd roars is just a good time.

We Build Things — Including Championship Pull Trucks.
From industrial facilities to tractor pull circuits, IPS shows up — with the same work ethic, the same pride, and the same commitment to Northwest Ohio that has defined this company since 1985.

We’ll see you at the track.
