Army veteran and IPS VP recognized for military service and continued community leadership at Glass City Center

ROSSFORD, Ohio — Nate Wishard doesn’t talk much about his military service. That’s true of many veterans — they put in the work, they do what needs to be done, and they move on to the next mission. The Glass City Wranglers made sure someone said it out loud. At a recent Hometown Hero Night at the Glass City Center in downtown Toledo, the Wranglers honored Wishard — IPS’s Vice President of Strategy and Market Development — for more than two decades of military service, including two combat deployments and a record of leadership that stretches from Army bases across the country to boardrooms here in Northwest Ohio.

From Fort Jackson to Kandahar

Wishard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2003, completing basic training at Fort Jackson and advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, where he specialized in Apache helicopter armament, electrical, and avionics systems — work that demands precision, accountability, and a steady hand under pressure. It’s not a coincidence those are also the qualities that define how he operates today.

He went on to serve with the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Attack Reconnaissance Battalion — the Wolfpack — where he served as a Paratrooper completing deployments in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Following his active service, he led large teams across training, operations, and talent development in multiple states before joining IPS.

IPS has considerable experience working in a 3D/BIM (Building Information Modeling) design and construction environment. We utilize the latest BIM software and technology to design, create fabrication deliverables, and assist in our field installation.  These models can be created from scratch internally or we will upgrade an engineer’s conceptual model up to LOD 400.

A large part of our process is incorporating our 3D laser scanner to verify the accuracy of the design model, existing conditions, and to ensure we install per the model. The individual scans taken on site are registered and tied together to create a complete one-to-one scale point cloud.  From this point cloud, the customer and our team have the ability to take measurements, view existing site conditions, check interferences, 3D model new proposed work around these interferences, and much more. Our scanner measures 500k points per second within a 1/16″ accuracy up to 400 feet from the scanner. These two photos above, show the BIM model (left) and the actual piping installation photo for the customer (right).  We perform 3D scanning for internal use as well as a standalone service to be handed over directly to the customer or engineer.

• 80,000 liner feet of pipe ranging from 1/2″ to 16″ diameter. 
• Over 1,400 pipe spool drawings
• 1,400+/- pipe support drawings for steel needed to support the process piping.

3D modeled and created 71 different fabrication packages for all of the process piping, utility piping, and the solid steel supports. Each fabrication package consisted of individual pipe spool drawings, spool maps, pipe support drawings, detailed smaller 3D models, bill of materials, field layout drawings, and budgeted manhours.

IPS also utilizes our robotic total station to assist in field layout. Points are loaded into it from PDF, CAD, or CSV files. This total station is controlled through a tablet and provides more efficient and accurate workflow to layout underground piping, equipment, anchor bolts, hangers, penetrations, and much more.

IPS Expands Capabilities with New 10,000 Square-Foot Pre-Engineered Building

[Rossford, Ohio] – [9/25/2024] – As a local leader in the construction industry, IPS is excited to announce the construction of a new 10,000 square foot service and electrical fabrication building across the street from its headquarters on Dixie Highway. This significant expansion will further support the company’s expanding operations by providing a dedicated space for its growing 24/7 service division. IPS first relocated to Rossford in 2009 by purchasing the fabrication shop at 129 Dixie Highway and shortly after, in 2016, IPS acquired the long-vacant building that now serves as our headquarters at 146 Dixie Highway. They undertook an 18-month renovation of the historic Ford Club building, originally constructed in 1917.

Founded in 1985 by Kevin Gray, IPS is an industrial, general, specialty, and Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) contractor serving its clients throughout the country and internationally. Setting IPS apart from the rest of the industry is its ability to self-perform all facets of construction. With general trades, mechanical, electrical, service, and in-house fabrication capabilities, IPS is equipped to handle any size project – from several hundred dollars to multimillion-dollar ventures. IPS’s full range of capabilities allows it to deliver a project from concept to completion and beyond. 

Strategically located in front of the company’s 100,000 square foot fabrication shop located at 129 Dixie Highway, the new building is designed to expand operational capabilities and better position IPS to serve its clients and partners.  “We are thrilled to embark on this expansion project, which underscores our commitment to growth and operational excellence while continuing our investment in Northwest Ohio,” said company President Jeremiah Johnson. “This new facility will not only provide us the ability to grow operational capabilities but also support our commitment to delivering industry-leading construction solutions.”
